Why amaiko Kanzlei is the better choice
amaiko Kanzlei is the AI for tax firms that works where your firm spends its day: in Microsoft Teams. In short:
- Available today. SOFI for Tax is still listed as “Closed Beta” behind a waitlist on its own product page.
- In Teams, not next to it. No extra app, no extra window.
- Less than half the price for a small firm. €29.91 per user per month billed annually, DATEV and Haufe included. A 9-user firm pays €269.19 a month instead of €579.90 on SOFI Small.
- No setup fee, no project. SOFI’s onboarding is a one-time €3,499.99.
- A memory that learns, and the whole Microsoft 365 workday in one chat.
- Sealed for § 203 StGB, with EU-only AI processing and hosting in Germany.
Live today, not on a waitlist
SOFI’s own product page labels SOFI for Tax “Closed Beta”, and access runs through a waitlist. The pricing page notes that terms for waitlisted firms may differ. SOFI for Law, for lawyers, is announced as coming soon and has not launched.
amaiko Kanzlei is available today. It is an edition of amaiko, which has run in production since July 2025. You do not wait for a slot; you book a demo and start.
In Teams, not in yet another app
SOFI runs as a web app, an iOS app and, from the Medium edition, an Outlook add-in. It names no Microsoft Teams integration. For every AI question, that means switching windows, rebuilding context and copying the result back.
amaiko Kanzlei works inside Teams. You ask in the chat for a client’s trial balance, last month’s payroll figures or a tax assessment filed in the DMS, and the answer lands where your colleague’s question is already waiting. No new tool for your team to learn.
No onboarding project, no setup fee
At SOFI, “setup and onboarding” is a separate, paid step: a one-time €3,499.99 on Small and Medium, plus a flat €39.99 for each user added in the following twelve months.
amaiko Kanzlei has no setup fee, no hardware and no rollout project. amaiko seals the tenant at provisioning. After that, each employee connects their own DATEV login (SmartLogin, SmartCard or mIDentity) and asks the first question.
The whole Microsoft 365 workday, with a memory
amaiko Kanzlei reads and drafts across the whole working day: email, calendar, files, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, Teams chats, OneNote, To Do and SharePoint lists. Every seat includes it. On SOFI Small, Microsoft 365 is one of only two selectable tools, and the Outlook add-in starts at Medium.
And amaiko remembers across conversations what you work on and how you work, so its answers fit better week by week. In amaiko Kanzlei that knowledge stays personal: nothing is shared across the firm.
DATEV on request, included in the price
amaiko Kanzlei fetches DATEV data when someone asks, and does not mirror the firm’s data stock into a database of its own:
- Rechnungswesen: postings, trial balances (SuSa) and accounts from DATEV’s Rechnungswesen archive. amaiko uploads a Buchungsstapel only after you confirm it, and never finalizes it.
- Lohn: read-only. Gross and net per employee, wage types, taxes and social security, absences, payroll booking records and the official payroll reports as PDF. It needs DATEV’s Lohnergebnisdatenservice and Lohnauswertungsdatenservice.
- DMS: find and read documents. amaiko writes only after you approve a plan, through the Cloud Gateway for DATEVconnect by Riecken, the gateway DATEV itself names for cloud vendors.
For tax and employment-law questions, Haufe answers from its own content; the firm brings its own Haufe API key. DATEV and Haufe cost nothing extra with amaiko Kanzlei, and neither does writing with approval. At SOFI, “writing with approval” in DATEV starts with the Medium edition.
What it costs: the arithmetic
amaiko Kanzlei costs €29.91 per user per month billed annually, or €37.39 billed monthly. DATEV and Haufe are included, and there is no setup fee. Pricing starts at two seats.
According to its pricing page (prices as of July 2026, net), SOFI charges a base fee per edition, €399.99 for Small (0–9 users) and €649.99 for Medium (10–49 users), plus €19.99 per user per month, credited as a token allowance that expires at month end, plus a one-time €3,499.99 for setup and onboarding. Here is what that means for three firm sizes, all amounts net:
| Firm | amaiko Kanzlei per month | SOFI per month | amaiko Kanzlei year one | SOFI year one |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 9 users | 9 × €29.91 = €269.19 | Small: €399.99 + 9 × €19.99 = €579.90 | €3,230.28 | 12 × €579.90 + €3,499.99 = €10,458.79 |
| 10 users | 10 × €29.91 = €299.10 | Medium: €649.99 + 10 × €19.99 = €849.89 | €3,589.20 | 12 × €849.89 + €3,499.99 = €13,698.67 |
| 25 users | 25 × €29.91 = €747.75 | Medium: €649.99 + 25 × €19.99 = €1,149.74 | €8,973.00 | 12 × €1,149.74 + €3,499.99 = €17,296.87 |
amaiko Kanzlei billed annually. At SOFI, a firm moves from Small to Medium with its tenth user. In year one, a 9-user firm pays amaiko less than a third of what SOFI costs. Haufe and TaxGraph licenses come on top at SOFI.
Security and § 203 StGB
SOFI runs its inference in a Trusted Execution Environment with attestation. amaiko Kanzlei relies on a sealed tenant: amaiko sets the seal at provisioning, in infrastructure, not as an admin toggle, and your data protection officer can verify it. It enforces:
- An allowlist of specialists: Microsoft 365 work, knowledge, data analysis, scheduled tasks, DATEV and Haufe. Anything added to the platform later stays out automatically. No web research, no image generation.
- Microsoft 365 read-only: amaiko reads and drafts, but no write action reaches Microsoft 365.
- No background reads of mailboxes. What you scheduled yourself, such as a briefing or a reminder, still runs.
- No content in logs or agent traces: no prompts, no responses, no file names, no error text.
- AI processing only in the EU via Azure OpenAI in the EU data zone, with hosting in Germany on amaiko’s own infrastructure, not in the Microsoft cloud.
DATEV operations go to DATEV, DMS traffic goes through Riecken, and your question goes to Haufe when you use Haufe. The data processing agreement carries the confidentiality clauses of § 203 StGB and § 62a StBerG. The details are on the amaiko Kanzlei page.
The bottom line
SOFI for Tax is a platform on a waitlist, in its own app, with a base fee, a per-user price and an onboarding invoice. amaiko Kanzlei is here today, in Teams, with DATEV and Haufe in the price, a memory that learns and a seal built for § 203 StGB, at less than half the monthly price for a small firm and with no setup fee. amaiko Kanzlei for law firms is coming too.
